Former Alaska Governor and noted animal rights antagonist, Sarah Palin, is experiencing a significant dip in popularity and image, this according to a new Washington Post/ABC poll.
John McCain’s 2008 vice presidential pick is perceived unfavorably by 55-percent of Americans with only 37-percent viewing Palin favorably.
Additionally, 71-percent believe the tea party movement’s favorite presidential hopeful is unqualified to lead the nation versus 60-percent last November.
Palin, who sported a tote that read “Real Women Hunt Moose” in 2008, is known for her support of aerial hunting, suing to reverse President Bush’s efforts to list the polar bear as endangered and attacking the vegetarian lifestyle in her book “Going Rogue.”
In her November article “Sarah Palin takes aim at vegetarians in Going Rogue”, TDIV’s Daelyn Fortney revealed Palin’s dislike (and ignorance) of vegetarians.
“Besides addressing her views on the McCain campaign and the media, Palin, a passionate Alaskan hunter, takes aim at vegetarians. Palin states, ‘If any vegans came over for dinner, I could whip them up a salad, then explain my philosophy on being a carnivore: If God had not intended for us to eat animals, how come He made them out of meat?’”
During the 2008 presidential race Michael Markarian, president of the Humane Society Legislative Fund said the following in regards to Palin’s animal rights record.
“Gov. Sarah Palin’s (R-Alaska) retrograde policies on animal welfare and conservation have led to an all-out war on Alaska’s wolves and other creatures. Her record is so extreme that she has perhaps done more harm to animals than any other current governor in the United States.”
Needless to say, no tears will be shed within the animal rights community for Mrs. Palin’s plummeting popularity.
