Zac Brown Band refuses PETA's request to go 'Tofu Fried'

Share |

It appears that the Zac Brown Band will not be serving sesame peanut crusted tofu steaks at the group's pre-show “eat and greets” anytime soon. The Grammy Award winning country performers responded to PETA’s request to go “tofu fried” instead of “chicken fried” via Twitter.

“Dear PETA - Plants are living creatures too… Bacon had a mother but so did Pickle. It takes life to support life – welcome to the planet.”

In addition to the brilliance of comparing a cucumber to a pig and calling a pickle a creature, the band tossed out the following tweet nugget yesterday.

“Chicken is the new tofu.”

Considering the prevalence of heart disease and obesity throughout the southern U.S. maybe the band should truly reassess its priorities. A fan base ingesting copious amounts of BBQ and fried food at their now famous “eat and greets” is not only cliché it’s harmful to the people who support the band’s livelihood.

Hopefully (doubtful) that will provide pause the next time you are eating a “creature” that contains artery hardening saturated fat and cholesterol.
