Jonathan Safran Foer, author of Eating Animals, appeared on The Colbert Report Monday night to discuss factory farming in the U.S. In typical Stephen Colbert style, he was able to poke fun at the ideas all while letting Safran Foer get his point across.

"We have a farm system now that is really perfectly antithetical to American values," explains the author adding that free-range labels, which is the fastest growing sector in the American food industry, is “all b.s. The labels don’t mean anything.”

The sarcastic pundit objects saying, “No, free range means that the chickens get up in the morning and they run over fields. Fields of flowers. At the end of the day they make love and from this lovemaking one single egg emerges. Then when they are asleep cuddling with each other or pillow talk, the farmer comes and takes the one egg.”

Colbert ends the show by plugging Eating Animals while eating from a plate full of bacon.
