The program’s concept is, “Used Bras = Using Simple Encouragements to Develop, Blossom and Renew positive Attitudes and Self‐Esteem.”
“This is our chance to directly influence the lives of deserving women by providing them with a recycled bra,” says founder Elaine Birks-Mitchell on BraRecycling.org. “We are doing our part to impact the environment by delaying the amount of unused bras/textiles that go to our landfills, thus reducing the pressure on virgin resources.”
Launched in October of 2008, the program has collected over 20,000 bras which are provided to women in shelters and transitional housing facilities.
Donating a used bra is easy. Wash it, fill out a form, place it in an envelope, and mail it. Drop off locations are also available in Dallas, TX, Sacramento, CA, and Phoenix, AZ.
So those looking to give someone in need a little lift, think about donating your unwanted undergarments. For more information visit BraRecycling.org.
