Mercy For Animals executive director and founder Nathan Runkle was on CNN on Friday discussing the group’s undercover video taken at Willet Dairy in Locke, New York. Runkel spoke with CNN’s Jane Velez-Mitchell whose segment focused on the “mind-blowing horrifying results of an investigation into the abuse of dairy cows.”
After showing several clips, Velez-Mitchell was quick to remind the audience, “You should know we are not showing, by any means, the most graphic video. There are some practices so horrible we cannot show them to you on camera.”
CNN and ABC, who originally aired the footage, should be applauded for taking this story public. It takes major networks using their means of reaching large audiences to help spread the word of the horrible treatment defenseless animals receive on farms like Willet Dairy.
As a result of Mercy For Animal’s investigation, a bill is being introduced in the New York state legislature making the practice of tail-docking (cutting tails off) illegal.
