Alexandra Burke was hoping for a puppy from Santa this past Christmas. According to the Daily Record, the X Factor winner even had a name picked out for the bijon frise that would accompany her on tour: Crunchy.  Alas the singer’s plans were nixed after the news reached Simon Cowell who determined Burke was too busy to take care of the dog.

Cowell is known to have a fondness for furry four legged companions.  He has worked with PETA in campaigns against fur and has recorded a PSA reminding people not leave their dogs in hot cars.

Since she is banned from buying her dream pup, Burke is planning to purchase a couple homes instead.
