It has been announced that Chef Gordon Ramsay will create a US version of the BBC cooking show MasterChef which will air sometime in 2010 on FOX. MasterChef pits amateur cooks with no experience against each other in a culinary competition.

The celebrity chef is currently back on UK TV with Gordon Ramsay’s Great Escape. The show highlights Ramsay’s travels through India as he faces his dreaded foe: vegetarian food. Never a fan of meatless cuisine, Ramsay told the BBC, "Lentils, pumpkins, I can't get excited with seeds. I don't want to sit down and eat a nut roast. I need meat, fish and chicken."

Recently the Michelin-starred chef was on U.S. TV with Ramsay Cookalong Live. His show, Kitchen Nightmares USA begins January 26 on FOX.

UPDATE:  Kitchen Nightmares season premier has been moved to Jan. 29.
