Thanksgiving dinner menu for vegetarians

Share |

Vegetarians need not skip the Thanksgiving Day festivities due to their decision to pass on turkey, gravy, and other traditionally meat-centric dishes.

Tofurky or Quorn Turk’y Roast can serve as a main dish on the vegetarian Thanksgiving table. These humane turkey substitutes can be cooked within a few hours and have a similar taste and texture to their meat counterpart.

Mashed potatoes are a staple at Thanksgiving. This fare is typically topped with gravy made with animal drippings or meat broth. Foregoing the meat is easy with a vegetarian mushroom gravy made with mushrooms, soy sauce, and vegetable broth.

It's not Thanksgiving without the stuffing. Pepperidge Farm Herb Seasoned Stuffing can be made vegetarian by adding only water and butter. Additionally, butter can be omitted and substituted with vegetable broth.

Corn, green beans, rolls, rice, and cranberry sauce are all meatless side dishes. A homemade pumpkin or apple pie is the perfect conclusion to the meal.

Most items on the Thanksgiving table are already meat-free. Creating the perfect vegetarian holiday menu just takes a little imagination. Vegetarians and vegans have many meatless options that will fill their stomachs with good eats and allow their compassionate hearts to be content.
